LIVING FOR THE KINGDOM IN EVERYTHING
LIVING FOR THE KINGDOM IN EVERYTHING
Ultimately, "kingdom living" is a journey of transformation, empowered by the Holy Spirit, where the prayer "Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven" becomes the driving force and the lived reality of a believer's life.
Let's break that down for a second. First, notice the word "journey." This isn't a test we have to pass or a destination we arrive at overnight. It's a slow, beautiful process of becoming more like Jesus. And the best part is, we don't do it in our own strength. It’s the Holy Spirit who gently works in us, giving us the power to love, to forgive, and to change.
The driving force behind it all is that simple, powerful prayer Jesus taught us: "Your kingdom come, Your will be done." This is more than just words we recite. It becomes the question we ask every day. In our homes, at our jobs, in our secret thoughts—"God, how can I bring a little bit of Your perfect, loving way into this situation right now? How can I make my little corner of earth look a little more like heaven?"
When we start living that way, we begin to get a foretaste of the perfect world to come, experienced and expressed in the here and now.
I like to think of it like this: Imagine you’re outside a bakery, and you can smell the incredible aroma of bread baking. You haven't tasted the bread yet, but that wonderful smell gives you a hint—a foretaste—of the goodness that’s inside.
Every time you choose grace instead of judgment, every time our church serves its community, every time we stand for what is right, we are letting the beautiful aroma of heaven fill the air on earth. We are giving the people around us a small taste of the goodness of our King and the perfect world He has promised to one day bring in full.
Kingdom living isn't about being perfect. It’s about being present, letting the Holy Spirit lead, and choosing, in our small, everyday moments, to pray with our lives, "Let Your Kingdom come."
To help you on this journey, we have created a collection of materials designed to explore this very topic on a personal level. These can be found in the Resources and the Outreach sections of the site.
